I've got an Albatron K8X800 Pro II (btw, if anyone has one they want to get rid of PM me). Hasn't worked since I got it. Standby LED does turn on but, other than that I get nothing from it.

Board doesn't respond to anything, power switch or jumping the green wire on the PSU with a ground.

I've tried baking it (reflow)... my only other guess would be to run it through the dishwasher and let it dry out for a couple days.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Dont bake it or wash it, the board is from the bad-caps era, I would look at the caps first, try a ESR meter, then look at the transistors and check power rails.

If its a board you absolutely love its worth spending time in fixing it properly.

Sometimes it is better to bin stuff. If you love it, fix it. If you can find another one that are working, then go for that.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

If I COULD find another one. They seem to be a bit rare.

I drug it out of the closet yesterday. I may set it back up for another time when I have to the proper tools to check the caps and such.

I know they are rare, as they are from that period in time, when everything had bad cap's.
Despite them being mass produced to the extreme. I am not talking about this board, only speaking in general about hardware.
Most have died faster than 90's era hardware ever will.

EDIT:
Perhaps you need to look for some other board, that have the same features.
I don't know what you like about this board, over any other from that era.
When I look at reviews, they all talk about this board as being affortable and cheap.
I think the Albatron K8X800 pro II is meant to have a short life.

As the board is from 2004/05'ish, I begin to think back on what are for sale today,
as second hand stuff, and how I percieved hardware in terms of quality when I had that job as a
system builder back then.

A board like the Asus A8N-SLI-Premium was what astonished and surprised me the most
at that time. I remember building a machine with that, just a couple of weeks before it
was released to the publich. You know... Before it was avaliable in shops in general.

I used to work with these brands in general: Asus, Asrock, MSI and FoxConn.
Never tried working with an Albatron, so I have no real hands on experience with that brand.

if its really important to you, you can send it to an eletronic repair shop that does large scale refurbishing it could cost you some money though.

It's an awesome board and it's sad that Socket 754 was that limited...
Maybe I still have it. I think it's even boxed 😀

I don't need it anymore since I don't collect 754 hardware...
