Promise Ultra 133 TX2 and VIA USB 2.0 came in.

Question is there anyway to hook a front panel USB up to the internal USB port on the card?

Nm found this

I understand you don't want to have a FX5900 laying around doing nothing for no good reason, but it might be more fun to build a new rig around it 😀.

And why so many harddrives?

Limit of 3 computers in the house according to my wife, the other retro has a 500gb and a 250gb SATA, so I put all my IDE drives into this one because i can 😜

Plus how many of us would have done back in 99/2000? I know I used every drive I could get my hands on

I don't think that I did this, mostly because harddrives were one of the few things I never had enough of.

That makes me wonder about building some sort of combo rig or something like that where there is multiple builds in big one case 😉
She only said three but didn't say how big or small 😈

Nice build!!!

I like your 440BX board. Seems like it's a good choice according to RAM-slots / PCI-/ISA slots and IDE ports...

anandtech says about something:
"The location of the power connector is less than ideal. As it is, the ATX power cable has to snake around the CPU to reach its destination,..."
Can't see in between CPU and PSU but it seems you have solved it in a good way!

From my point of view, the FX5900XT is too overpowered for the "little" PIII. I know, you've already said about the (your) limit of 3 PC's.... I think the Ultra is also a good choice.
I have also a PIII, but a S370 with 866MHz. Up to know it's not finally built and i have also the choice between several cards.
(GF2-MX400 or GF2-GTS or GF2-Ti or GF3-Ti200...).

#1 K6-2/500, #2 Athlon1200, #3 Celeron1000A, #4 A64-3700, #5 P4HT-3200, #6 P4-2800, #7 Am486DX2-66

The FX is only temp, the ultra will go back in once my banshee arrives. I also snaked the 20pin into a hole under the psu in the case. It still snakes a bit but I got used to dealing with that kind of placement in 2002/2003 with Athlon XP ecs boards 🤣

At one time I think I had like 6 hard drives in my late Socket A system. It was a motly assortment of ATA100/133 and early SATA not a single drive was the same speed or capacity. I had a 500GB IDE drive in it that now sites in a Modded Original Xbox 😀.

Yep, did that too. It seemed as if the tower would twist slightly every time I powered it on from the combined torque of all the drive motors spinning up at the same time.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.
