I always see a lot of small PCMCIA flash cards on ebay. They're not worth much today but back when hard drives were slow and memory for ramdisks were at a premium and volatile in nature, I can see how there would have been a market.

What did these things sell for way back?

Don't remember specifics, but they were on the same magnitude of price as a comparable (in size) CF card. PCMCIA flash cards are essentially CF cards with a PCMCIA connector.

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

Don't PCMCIA flash cards predate Compact Flash as a technology?
