Nice choice of colour, Fagear; they look like special editions.

Well... It's just the color of bare PCB. 🤣

If there are spares going, I'd love to order those brackets as well

Any info on the brackets, ready for sale Fagear? 😀 We are anxious...

Yep!
Got today another batch of PCBs for my projects and here they are:

38 of them.

And some boards for another project (crossover for USSR speakers):

And I will soon get factory-made ones for those speakers. I'm going to sell those crossover boards and then I should be able to launch new batch of SSI-2001 replicas. 😀

Hm why they use a 8255 ? 😉 is the SID wired to it ?, reminds me of Covox Internal Soundcard. (LPT with DAC on one Card.)

I should be able to launch new batch of SSI-2001 replicas.

That would be nice, even if its pretty useless its still funny to have one 😀

I would assume that the 8255 was used to reduce the number of I/O ports needed by the SID. The SID requires 29 I/O ports or memory address locations. The 8255 requires 4.

Replicas, not brackets for them. 😀

I think you're in my list from 31/01/2016. 🤣 By the way, what variant do you want? Bare PCB/PCB + parts kit/Fully assembled board? With SID or not? You can answer in PM of you want.

Finally!
I've got new batch of PCBs, another 30 pcs. Not all parts are ready for all of the boards yet, but I'm working on it. I think there will be enough parts for current orders and more to come for future ones.
Now it's time for me to inform everyone via PM...

received mine yesterday [fully constructed], thanks Fagear [but no thanks to Royal Mail, who managed to deliver to the wrong town, causing a 2 week delay, for no good reason they could give 😜], all working well. Currently in an athlon 700 system alongside a GUS.

I think I'll rise up some old questions...

I also have a question, regarding pitch.

I tried playing with the jumper to switch between 0.89 and 1.02.
Yes the pitch changed, but neither option seemed to create notes at the same height as the other sound cards, making the SSI-2001 replica 'out of tune'.

Probably, Ultima wants exact 1.0 MHz for SID or something... I don't know.

amigo-mexicano wrote:

I have two versions of SwinSID, will make tests soon and let u all know 😀

Where are the results of the test? 😀
I want to know it as well. 😎

And I think I need to ask noop, if there any luck with *.SID player for this board...

I also have a question, regarding pitch.

When I recorded songs from Ultima VI, I captured different variations of the soundtrack : Tandy 3-voice, CMS, Adlib, SSI-2001 and LAPC-I.
I noted that they all blended harmoniously, seemingly playing at the same (or similar) pitch, except the SSI-2001.

I tried playing with the jumper to switch between 0.89 and 1.02.
Yes the pitch changed, but neither option seemed to create notes at the same height as the other sound cards, making the SSI-2001 replica 'out of tune'.

Anyone had the same problem? I'll make a video if anything I write is unclear.

Unfortunately, the issue is not with your card, but the poor music driver used in Ultima VI. The conversion to the SSI was probably an afterthought considering how poor the card sold.

Probably it will be developed further more: I've sent a testing stand for SSI-2001 to programmer, who can help with that.

BTW, is there a C64 emulator that can be modded to use the Innovation replica as a 'pass-through' sound device?

Well... The only available *.SID player (alpha version) is based on ReSIDfp emulator. I don't know any other method to make a player, because *.SID is not a *.MIDI-like file, it contains image for whole C64 hardware, how to perform.

The player is in active development at this moment.
Since the player is based on very bloated sidplayfp/residfp C64 emulation core(I have no idea from which emulator it was borrowed), it will probably barely work at full speed on P200. Currently using crappy P-III - based test PC and lack resources for testing on slower ones, so optimizations will have to wait. Optimising this is akin to digging sh*t anyway 🙁 Overengineered monstrocity.
There's a Win9X console app version available right now, but it even lacks track-switching functionality and doesn't play all SIDs possibly due to some yet undiscovered bug. PM if you want to test. Don't want to flood this thread with inevitable bug reports 😀

Update: Here it is! Track switching works.
Needs usual C64 roms.
Optional parameters:
-port <port number in hex>
-benchmark <milliseconds>
Note that on Win9X you can crash your system by using the wrong port number. 280 is the defaut
