Hello,

finally getting Roland SCC-1A card ๐Ÿ˜

To avoid any problems installing it as I don't have any experience with Roland stuff... I'd like a quick step-by-step guide how to setup and test the card.

On my desk I have a Celeron 366 with Windows 95.

Thanks

Have a look at the jumper settings on the user manual: http://cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/SCC-1_OM.pdf
Setup the card at PORT=330 , IRQ=2 - the standard MPU-401 settings.
Fire up DOOM or something, select "Sound Canvas" at port 330 and you should hear music.
Under windows install the included MPU-401 driver and play a midi, you should hear music.
If you have an external module connect it to the MIDI-OUT port and it should also play music at the same time.

Thanks... it seems simple enough ๐Ÿ˜€

I just hope it works as it's not tested and wasn't in use for over 10 years ๐Ÿ˜

I'll know for sure sometime later today/tonight when I get home and test it ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Be sure to connect the SCC-1A to the "line in" on a sound card and turn down the "line in" volume a bit.

I tested my SCC-1A connected directly to some active speakers and it worked for a short while then the preamplifier in the active speakers experienced a catastrofic failure. The line output on these cards is studio level, at least 2VRMS and cheap active speakers aimed for the PC-market are not always made to handle this.

Did a quick test as suggested by Keropi... all good ๐Ÿ˜

I did notice (in DOOM) the left channel to be louder then the right when connected to chinch L/R output. But they seem to be fine when connected to the phone output. This was directly connected to the LCD monitor speakers.
