I know some people on here don't like ME and some do, the only reason why i think that people don't like it is because it was basically a re-badged windows 98 and at the time people where expecting more from Microsoft, I actually like using it, its speedy to me and has a few good quality's, with that said here's what got for updates

The Optional
DirectX 9.0c (will run on ME And 98)
Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1

Also kernelex and revaluations pack 9 are really good tools.

If some of the updates that are listed are not needed at all, just say so, also if anyone wants the updates i can Archive and upload them somewhere

Hi, as it so happens, I just setup a winME PC.
Everything seems to be working fine except, none of the dos games I've tried will play sound.

I've got an ASUS A7N8X-X mobo, with built in sound, and I've also tried a SoundBlaster Live with both WDM, and VxD driver. Still nothing.

I'd appreciate any help/ideas.

The games I've tired

Indeed, if that was the case, ME wouldn't be particularly disliked at all.

I know some people on here don't like ME and some do

In fact, there are already several extensive Windows ME threads.

I tried Windows ME two or three times and crashed it beyond repair within hours in all cases. Never again.
But then again, if you like it, I won't tell you not to use it. To each his own. 😀

Windows ME came pre-installed on one of my computer's way back. I never had a problem with it. IMO, it ran better than Windows 98 for non-DOS stuff.

I've also recently been using WME for the first time ever. I built a dual boot W98/WME box so I could compare the two side by side. The first thing you notice is that WME has a more extensive driver library. Sound and USB were auto configured on install, while W98 required manual setup. I tried System Restore a few times but the process always failed. Is this common? I played a few games in both and didn't notice any differences. They're practically identical TBH, and there's nothing added in ME that compensates for the loss of DOS.

Is this too much voodoo?

That's correct. I wrote my own thread about ME here only a month earlier.

I never bothered to make use of all the buggy 'new' stuff ME came with, I just wanted an OS that worked. But I found it is kinda delicate, but it runs a whole lot better if you set it up properly and spend some time tweaking it.

The driver support is very nice I think, especially the native ZIP support and the USB storage drivers.
