As a new user, I love DOSBox. I would like to run its text screen in 50-line mode, though. As I recall, in the old DOS the command to do this was

mode co80:50

but in DOSBox that just gives "Illegal command: mode."

I might prefer to put something into my dosbox-0.74.conf file, but what?

Thanks in advance,

- Rich

It's not included in DOSBox. You need to get MODE.COM from the FreeDOS distribution:

The command you want is MODE CON LINES=50

"This all reminds me when i took the windows vista sticker thingy off my old laptop, and on my washing machine as a joke. A few days later said washing machine stopped working. I still think this cannot be a coincidence."

Thank you, Errius. Got it and it is working. I am a happy camper now.
