I tried to plug my headphones in there, but plug seems to be smaller than mini jack. What format is that? Is there adapter for regular mini jack?

It's a standard 2.5mm jack. Old mobile phones used it for audio output, before 3.5mm jack was introduced there as well(was it on iPhone 1?). 3.5mm adapter is sold in most places where they sell mobile phone accessories, plenty of them on aliexpress.
