So I've been asked to write up a short little blob about my hobby and take a few pictures. That is of course the hobby of playing with this old stuff.

The blob is easy its show casing me working on them that isn't easy.

Should I go for the PEntium 233MMX in a Full Tower AT or should i go for the the gateway, both are assembled and in working order but which do I showcase hmm.

Well the gateway is a name people will know, wile the mmx pent is more hardcore...

It really depends on the people at your work. The gateway will show your hobby as being more so restoring old computers were a custom built system will not so much.
If you pick it, be shore to remove those photos from the gateway if you have any left. 🤣

I donno, I think that would get MORE interest 😉

I cant remember what your MMX build was/looked like.
The Gateway to me would simply look like an old Gatway PC, nothing special, as they were pretty common.
The MMX may look a bit more "older" depending on the case.

Depends on how "techie" your work is.

Nothing stopping you form mentioning that this is my Dos/Win9x PC, I also have a P2/MXX Pc at home more suited for the other OS"

I'm a Desktop Tech working for the State of Texas at a public University. I fixed all manner of odd ball stuff, including machines with Win 3.1/95/98 and NT4 running scientific instruments that cost to much to replace.

The pentium MMX hasn't been showcased on here, just the case, which you can see in my 486 thread.

Lets see systems I have that are older vintage

PEntium MMX/3dfx Voodoo Banshee AGP/128mb PC66/Windows 95 OSR 2.5/Full Tower AT
Pentium III 800 Gateway/ATI Rage 128 Pro All in Wonder/512mb PC100/Windows 98SE/Midtower
Athlon 1200/FX 5900XT/512mb PC100/Windows ME/Midtower White Box
Athlon XP 3200/6800GT/2gb DDR 400/Windows 2000/Midtower Whitebox
Athlon 64 X2 3800 HP/8800GTS 512 (could swap in a 7900GTX)/2gb DDR 400/Windows XP SP3/Mini Tower

I'd go with the MMX then.
MMX, Voodoo, Win95, these were all pretty big things back in the day and screem "old school" to people even 1/2 knowledgeable in computers I would think.

You maybe able to get away with the standard vga driver? 3.1 isn't the most colourful of OS's anyway.
