Seen that way too often. Mine, both not computer-related (well, the second had a computer game-related book in it):
Fragile mint-in-box collectible shipped from the UK to Netherlands packed in a thin but very oversized cardboard box with no padding whatsoever and very shoddy packing tape application. Needless to say, the item arrived in a dire condition as the box was utterly crushed and so was its contents, which also had clearly been bounced around in the box. The collectible itself somehow survived the trip.
More recently, a box arrived at my home completely soaked, crushed and ripped open but quickly retaped on one side (not the sender's fault), having apparently stood in 10 cm of water for a prolonged period. Filed a complaint with the Dutch postal services, who still haven't replied beyond the initial contact. Considering the aluminium traces on the box that suggest it was driven over I bet it fell off a cart at the Dutch postal services' international distribution center, got stuck underneath the cart and then fell into a puddle, where it was not noticed for a while. That would explain the 1.45 hour delay between the two times it left said distribution center. Again, contents survived...somehow. Some of it was soaked though (fortunately not the book). Still weird the postal services can't figure out what happened, as the tape used to repair the wet parcel has their name all over it...literally. 😒
