No, but that would need an active converter since HDMI is digital and VGA is analog

Virge Descent looks great too - I like it better then the unofficial 3dfx version since the mouse works and you get the cockpit view - and I like the texture filtering on it better too. Performance is pretty bad tough...

Or for when you expect problems with the AGP portion of one's build, including things like driver problems.

I used it as a "testing" card on my dear Abit NF-7 (the one which doesn't seem to show anything but powers up just fine) and I saw completely nothing...

And in case you can't come up with anymore uses, here's the old standby:

In The Netherlands, this particular layout seemed to be the absolutely most common variant of Virge/Virge DX/Virge ?? in existance 😁

Personally I think they are really good cards, quite versatile for what they are. Even the AGP versions might prove useful, I kinda regret not keeping all the AGP S3 cards and Trio's (I only kept the Virges...mostly).

2. The original Mechwarrior 2 (MSDOS GAME), you can set the game resolution...(up to 1024x768, if i am not mistaken) so, will upgrading the S3 Virge RAM from 2 to 4MB, helps?

I would pick the S3 over the Trident. Regarding 1024x768, you should be fine with 2MB of RAM, though I'm not sure how well MW2 will run at that res on a 233MMX. I'm guessing 640x480 will run well, and 800x600 will be "pushing it".
Assuming 256 colors (which is 8bits per pixel): 1024x768x8=6291456/8 (8 bits per byte)=786432 bytes of video memory needed. So 2MB should be able to handle that fine.

edit: you will probably have to run Univbe or S3 VBE to add VBE 2.0 support in order to get the SVGA resolutions.

Mine is S3 Trio 64 V...

I've got many of them, and I'm using currently more S3 in my retro-rigs, as I've seen they are very problems-free, and so much compatible - although they are for sure not that powerful... I'm using one AGP model, I think 3D/2x in my PIII-based build, and another PCI one, Virge if I'm remembering right, in one of my 486. Really, no problems at all! Take in consideration to use them for your retro projects, if you don't need somethiing really powerful and dedicated.

Similarly, a Virge makes a decent fan to cool yourself on hot days.
