Hi all,

I am looking for advice on cable management. I have the following cables connected to each computer:

power
sound
mouse
keyboard
network
monitor

Then I have the following computers:

286
386
486
P MMX
PII
PIII
P4

That is now 6x7=42 cables. I actually also have 2 more computers giving me a total of 54 cables. And on top of this I also have things like monitors (3), an amp, a SC-55, KVM boxes, etc. Managing them all is a mess.

Any good advice of managing so many cables?

Ideally what I am looking for is if I want to take a computer out and put it back I do not have to untangle so many cables.

Depends how you work.
If by taking a computer out you mean you swap them round you could tie the cables all together Power, keyboard, network, etc should be all the same no matter which PC is going in that "spot" but will be a massive pain to swap a individual cable, but at least you know which cable goes where (as long as you label it or colour cable it Network cables are good as a colour marker)

I gave up after my 3rd PC of easy identifying cables though. They are fairly tidy behind the computers (which makes following them twice as hard) but If I take away a PC I'll just leave the cables where they are
