Thanks. My new mobo has a better NIC and I did a firmware update on my router so pings will be better if it were not for running the server in a VM 😢

pings are down by about 3ms with the firmware upgrade and new nic.but the VM could steel the 3ms

Tried it just now, over 260ms latency, unplayable. 🙁

(I'm in Australia though, so it's not your server's fault!)

Sorry about that, not much I can do. However you could try to connect to the server via the IP. That may help a small bit.

Got back on this morning and it was a much more playable 150, give or take.

Yeah, I don't have a dedicated network for the system and a family member was eating up all the bandwidth, I still have to setup QoS.

I did some tests the other day via speedtest.net, from the server to London UK is a about 90-105ms, from the server to different places in Norway is around 150-200ms. But the way the game works will add around 20-25ms. So if your pings the server may be 100ms but in the game you may get 125ms. I'm not that skilled with the back end of networking so I don't know what the case is, I have a few ideas but that's it.

Anyway if your in the USA you should get a round 75-150ms, if your over seas you should get around 125-250ms.

That's about 1,600 miles from the server. Not all that bad when you consider how bad my internet service is.

Had some fun last night, oddly I found a few glitches in the game to render the redeemer useless.

If you jump wile firing a charged up bio gun at it will blow up on the person that fired it.
Oddly we both shot a redeemer at each other and it went off right next to etch other and both were left unharmed. 😕

Also I don't consider changing the FOV as cheating. To change the FOV open the game's console and use the setfov command to adjust the fov.
I use setfov 100. I believe 90 is stock.

Having some heat problems with the chipset on the new motherboard.
Had to reboot the server, it's running a disk check now.

Edit:
Looks like the file system is went way out of whack when the system locked up from the over heated chipset. Good thing I have a second drive with the vm boxes backed up to incase if I need to start over. But it looks like I got it all fixed.

I gave it a go briefly yesterday, but my ping of around 260 or so (this is what my ping to the server was displaying in the server list) made it very hard to play. Even almost drowned in that goo when I was going for that flak cannon 😵

But this is quite common when I join any server located in the states.

Perhaps it might be an idea to (somewhere down the road) try a game where razorsharp connection latencies don't matter as much?

Let me think about it.

TA might be a good one, but so is Spring (basically a free 3D version of TA, but it does require a more modern rig if using lots of bots) but at least it doesn't depend too much on ping. I've actually ported many units from TA to spring for my personal mod and it won't even require a dedicated server.

I also got a new chipset heat sink in, but it's not the best fit and abit loud. I'll get a better one soon.
I only paid 4$ for it. It cools the chipset a lot better but it still runs on the hot side.
