Soo... What's the story behind this?

Saw Moe's thread about HQ2X and OpenGL and for some reason remembered ATI'S SmartShader config. Loaded up DosBox in OGL, Configured OGL for Sketch and there it is!

Of course you could do the same thing with a Windows OGL port but it's pretty interesting that you can load up DosBox and apply Shader effects.

Did try out ASCII but not much use for playing the game with that.....now if the texturers were replaced with ASCII like Sketch then that would be cool but navigating Quake in 2D ASCII is horrible! 😁

I remember lpaying with ttyquake on Linux once. It was kind of fun if you set a really high-res text mode and blurred your eyes.

Anyone tried this renderer? Also, I tried HijackGL (it does sketching in every OpenGL game) but didn't work for me...

Did you know SDL has an aalib output mode? You already have the possiblity to render any game in ASCII. If you set some SVGA text mode with 250x120 chars, it becomes playable 😉
