Hi!
My computer is NOT new! Considering a new one.
Most use is e-mail and google searches.
And, mainly, old programmes written in dbase5, QuickBasic, and compiled Basic progs.
Quite a lot, really, so re-write is not on!
Any advice on what to buy, please?

Are you expecting a real DOS computer to do email and google searches? Because you posted this in the DOS forum.
We really need more to work with, you didn't give very much information. What operating system are you wanting to use? Are you looking for new or refurbished?

for what your doing I'd grab what ever is in your price rang or something cheap.

I buy business grade laptops only, if you're looking for a laptop. Dell Latitude/Precision, Lenovo ThinkPad, HP EliteBook/ZBook line. What's your budget?

QB64 and FreeBASIC would surely be the way to go rather than to get the original QuickBasic running one way or another. Of course, that will not help for compiled code.
