This is a warning to people who have a fridge from this dodgy brand as it is likely the one that caused the Grenfell Tower fire.

Complaints of electrical shorting and the door catching fire.

EDIT: This is the model Fridge that was reported to have caused the fire >>> FF175BP <<<

Just because one started a fire doesn't mean there all bad and start fires.

Edit,
Plastic? Good idea in something so big. Even if there isn't a defect in them if they do light up look out. Plastic can really burn fast and hot.

I'd like to find a Fridge/Freezer that was made in the last 40 years that doesn't have plastic on the inside. Even ones costing $2000+ have plastic on the inside.

And to top it off, the insulation is just a spray foam type stuff in all the units I have seen in the last 20 or so years.. so super flammable as well.

The biggest problem with that fire was the crappy dangerous, extremely flammable insulation they install on the outside of the building to make it more "green".

Guess they found out the hard way that making a building into a tinder box is not such a good idea.

Well it's not all to hard to find a steel freezer, but it will be very big and likely commercial grade.

commercial and industrial units are your best bet.
But a home frigde? Good luck, so much cheep junk made in China these days.

Clean behind your fridges, people. It's amazing the amount of junk that piles up back there.

Is this too much voodoo?

The insulation that caused the fire to spread really fast is not the insulation in the fridge, it is the insulation that was on the outside of the building. If the building had been up to standards, this disaster could have been avoided. By all means, the damage caused by a fridge fire should be limited to no more than a few apartments at worst.

So the Daily Mail is just exaggerating things because they're a tabloid.

On the other hand, a fridge made by a company called "Hotpoint"...sounds dodgy.

Hotpoint was the low end marque used by GE Appliances. Looks like Whirlpool uses it in the UK.

Some of the cheaper construction in the US is now using "exterior grade" gypsum board 😲 . Its cheap and they claim its flame retardant (mostly cheap). The bigger problem is some building codes don't include sufficient guidelines for fire breaks, particularly in the roof construction. Also, emergency sprinklers go a long way in helping contain high-rise fires.
