Hi,
I wanted to play around with the DosBox OPL2/OPL3 emulation and downloaded a OPLx instrument editor program called SBTIMBRE from www.oplx.com. The program supports Midi IN either with a MPU-401 or SoundBlaster MIDI hardware.
Under DosBOX 0.63 I can only get the MIDI OUT working, but not the MIDI IN, independent of the Intelligent Mode setting (true/false) and MPU-401 IRQ setting in SBTIMBRE.
I presume the emulated MPU-401 IRQ setting is either 9 or 2, but neither works. I have not debugged how the software handles interrupts, but could it be that good old master/slave PIC problem? EOI not sent to both PICs?
Would it be too much to ask if the emulated MPU-401 IRQ setting could be changed in the DosBOX config file, or at least it should be stated somewhere very clearly, I had to dig these forums for that 😀
And if somebody knows any other OPLx instument editors which support MPU-401 for MIDI keyboard input, please tell me, because I have too little spare time to code one.. (I started to code one, but then I ran into SBTIMBRE..)
P.S. And yes, I have tied the external MIDI port of my PCI soundcard to the Windows XP MIDI mapper input, so I have verified the MIDI input works when forwarded to a software synthesizer.
