When I try to run this DOS demo from the early nineties in DOSBox, the program tells me "Sorry, this demo needs a soundblaster to run." or something along those lines.
Apparently, Jangle is not detecting the sound hardware that DOSBox emulates.
Is there anything I can do about this?
Addition:
I already tried several SB settings in the config file. It didn't make a diffference.
This demo used to run just fine using an SB16 back in the old days when I still had the appropriate hardware.
did you try higher/lower amount of cycles and or changing the irq (try 5)

Yes I tried irq 5. Adjusting the cycles didn't make any difference.
Since you're a DOSBox author... how about if I send you the file so you can figure out why it's not detecting the SB?
as it's demo i don't mind

After install "DOSBox", I not maked eny changes.
I have "Jangle" demo, and this game work
very good !
My PC:
Pentium 4, 1.7 Ghz, fast 256 ram (Rambus RDRAM),
Sound codec: ADI AD1885, Video Card: GeForce4 (64 mgb).
OS "Windows XP PRO".
well located the problem.
but the sound is full of noise and the screen messed up as well.
