What's the best CPU I can slap in this Hewlett Packard Pavilion 7270? It's a Pentium 166 as far as I know and I'm not sure what RAM it has but it would be handy to know what the limit for that is. Thanks!

I think they're limited to 166MHz

Really?! Man if that's true that sucks, even a mundane Packard Bell from the same time can usually go up to 200mhz.

Do you have a P200 you can test with? I can't zoom into the pic you posted, but I can't see any jumpers on the board that might give any clues. Is there a model # on the motherboard that can be searched?

Yeah, my Packard Bell came with a P166 but is upgradeable to POD200MMX, so I'd hope something similar could be done with your 7270.

I can only tell it uses 430HX chipset and EDO ram. We might be able to find some clues if you can take a photo of the jumper setting tables.
