So right now I have a Compaq ProSignia 165 (PII 400, 128MB RAM, 40GB HDD, and ATI RAGE LT PRO 4MB), and it gets the job done pretty well overall. But, sadly the ~18 year old plastic on it is getting super brittle and cracking more with every passing year. Not to mention that the battery has gone flat from sitting and the CMOS battery drains in a matter of a few weeks.
So, I've come to y'all to see if you can come up with anything that would be a worthy replacement. Don't really require much, other than not spending an arm and a leg (I'm in the US), it NEEDS a 3.5" 1.44MB floppy drive, having a CD-ROM (DVD-ROM would be nice but I really don't need it), and having something ideally made in the early 2000's (more performance and newer plastic never hurt). In the way of specs, we'd obviously be looking at Pentium III's (really don't want a mobile Pentium 4). If it's not a higher end P3 I do have a spare P3 933 Mobile I could toss in. And as for graphics I'd really like something a bit more powerful than what this laptop has, but really as long as it runs SimCity 3000 with the Metropolis pre-save at 1024x768 without dipping below 25-30FPS I'm happy because then it's not a downgrade in performance.
Sorry if this was a bit scatterbrained, but I just wrote things down as they came to mind. 😀
