I'm trying to decide whether to grumble or count myself as fortunate - basically I've been struggling to find what I've been looking for on eBay and I don't know where else to look, or even if somewhere else is an option.
I've found a couple of cheap old systems locally this year - a Pentium 233MMX and a Pentium III 450. I would like something a bit older and slower since even the 233 has some speed issues, but there's really nothing on eBay without spending hundreds as anything older than a Pentium 4 tends to demand huge prices now. There don't seem to be many other options in the UK . . .the local versions of Craigslist like Gumtree and FridayAd are hopeless, and while we do have Craigslist nobody actually uses it in this country. I've looked at Amibay a few times but never seen anything I wanted to buy at the right moment to be able to buy it.
Do you folks find much interesting new stuff outside of eBay? Do you piece new systems together from parts? Spend a fortune on complete stuff? Have a secret hardware trading network? Construct mnemonic memory circuits from stone knives and bearskins? How are pickings where you are?
