Just found this article/blog thing at How-To Geek :

https://www.howtogeek.com/343813/re-live-90s- … wser-right-now/

And I'm speechless. Not in the negative way, really (I don't blame that article).

It's sure good that our things aren't forgotten, it's just..

Well.. I mean, I simply don't know what to say. 😕

How about you ?

Are we, who keep beeing faithful to / or interested in a few things of the 90s, considered archaic ?

The more I hear/read in modern media about "these oddities" of the 90s,
especially in technology, the more I feel like a relic.

Just like an old person of an indian tribe who is beeing friendly invited by "modern people" to
visit a new reservat with herds of fake bison, electric horses, fake plastic tepees..
- By the way. did any one of you watched that film Future World ?

All of this reminds me a lot of CQ100/Hamsphere, too, the virtual amateur radio band.
Yup, virtual. Like going fishing in the Matrix..

Pretty cool but I'd much rather have a VM or dedicated retro box for that stuff.

Strange thing is i still use Winamp. This thing will never be obsolete.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

I never used Winamp as a kid, simply because I found the interface confusing.

I prefer MPXPlay.

I have actually tried to get a couple different pages to work that claim to let you play old games in a browser.

Nothing ever loads. Tried a few different games. They just don't work.

Oh yes, Winamp.. I remember it fondly. It's still installed on dad's PC, I think.
Almost 20 years ago, it must has been in the Win98 days (were we still on dial-up ?),
I used to listen/watch to good old Shoutcast network (r.i.p.).

Among the things I remember were that Cartoon channel that showed episodes of Animaniacs.
By the time, this was an odd feeling, since that show already felt aged by then (haven't seen it on TV for years).

Another one I remember was Nectarine radio, I believe.
And one or two radio stations that played strange old music (Glenn Miller style music
and Italo Disco. One of the strangest songs I heard was Computer in my Mind by Ago [?]).

Oh, and last but not least, I remember building that rotary dial interface for Winamp.
I disassembled one of our old phones we still had boxed-up in the garage to get hold of such a dial.
Then I connected it to a serial port and installed that Winamp add-on (still have them). Was lot's of fun. ^^

Edit: Some typos fixed.
Edit: Found it! 😁
Edit: Download is dead; attached my backup copy.
Edit: Found one archived copy of the English Version. Phew!
