I get this from time to time for no apparent reason -- right click on the TOMB.EXE on the taskbar and select close, then End Task. Run it again from the Glidos window and it should work. This happens for me every 10-15 times I run the game through Glidos.

Weird, I've never had your problem in that case -- I can always successfully re-run it after closing it down (although sometimes you need to bring up the task list and close down any instance of NTVDM if Glidos warns with a "Read Error").

Perhaps someone else might help you....?

This is one of those weird ones, where many people have found that all is well after just deleting everything Glidos/VDMSound/TR1 and reinstalling.

I have also re-installed GLiDOS, VDMSound and TR1 many, many times and STILL get this problem... 😠

...no idea what is causing it as I can run TR1 and TRUB fine in DOS? 😖

It may be worth changing VESASupport from Yes to No in glidos.ini

Another possibility is that you have the wrong 3dfx version of tomb.exe. There are two, although Glidos should warn you that the size is wrong.

Yah thanks @HunterZ - looks like I must have had a brain fart or something! 😵

Anyhoo...I couldn't have the wrong 3Dfx version of TR1 as I used the advanced installer from tombraiderchronicles (assuming of course that it installs the 3Dfx version when you select GLiDOS as the install method) 😖

I'll try the VESA thingy... 😉

==EDIT==

Nope, VESA disabled and still no luck??? 😵

Any more ideas? 😕

Your autoexec.nt or config.nt may have something strange in them

You use an old version of VDMSound: 2.0.1
That is your problem.
Latest is 2.1.0

What soundcard (or onboard chip) do you have? The wrong soundblaster settings in VDMSound will cause that the game won't launch.
On the Soundblaster tab in VDMSound Properties, choose under Dev(ice):'Soundblaster 1', and "Microsoft sound assignment (Wave)".
Does it work now?

Tried VDMSound 2.1.0 and changing the settings as Joseph suggested...still no luck! 😢

Autoexec.nt and Config.nt seem fine...I can post their contents if you like @GLiDOS... 😉

Use one of the installers (why not try the one from my install page for a change) to install TR with no audio. That will eliminate audio as the cause.
