Oops! here's the full post:
Just recently installed an EVGA e-Geforce MX 4000 PCI card to replace my 82810 onboard graphics adapter. MB is HP Pavilion 6553 with Intel Celeron 468 Mhz. Playing TR with Glidos 1.32 I have a stuck key or keybounce effect that I didn't have before. When Lara should be standing still with no keys pressed, she will hop a step forward repeatedly. This of course makes the game unplayable because of the many ledges that must be negotiated. Any ideas as to a cause and fix for this?

Sounds more like a problem with VDMS (check that the maxCoord value in your VDMS.INI file is not too low).

Nope, Win 98 SE system, not using VDMS. Soundblaster legacy drivers work fine for the audio card (Conexant Riptide audio, game, modem combo). As I said, no problem prior to installing new PCI graphics card. System info says there's no hardware IRQ conflicts, but I wonder...... Anyone have another idea?

Make sure you're not running *anything* in the background that isn't absolutely necessary. You may have unintentionally installed something that is monitoring your keyboard for hotkeys or something.

I'm sure I used to get this a lot back in the days of W98. It was having a joystick configured but not actually having one connected to the machine, or was it that you should configure one even if you don't have one... something like that

Ah, yes! I'll try that. I have a joystick connected, but not installed as an input device in Windows. DOS games still detect it because it works with a few others. As soon as I submit this post, I'll shut down and disconnect it, then try the game and post back. Thanks in advance Paul, I'm sure that's it! But I still don't understand why it didn't manifest itself until I installed the new Graphics card. 😕

Yep, that took care of it. I did a little remembering, and realized that I had not been using the joystick port on my game card the last time I played TR with Glidos. I only connected it to play Descent 2. Then, when I was checking out the compatability of my new graphics card with various programs, I tried TR with Glidos and had the problem. By the way, it looks as good as ever with the new card, and I can now run it smoothly at 1024x768 whereas before the highest "smooth running" resolution was 800x600.
