Hi Everyone.

I received this CPU as part of a bulk lot of mostly socket 7 items.

its too many pins for socket 3 and the missing pins don't seem to match the pictures that were coming up as socket 4 but i have never had anything socket 4 before to compare against in the flesh.

the heatsink is quite stuck down, does anyone have any ideas what it might be

yeah its an 060, the oddball 3 pins on the side is a giveaway. The last 060 revision was the best 71E41J (and worth the most). All over revisions get super hot and were buggy, early revs were terrible. Even if you get the heat sink off, it could be fake markings (very very common for 060!), you need to drop it in something like amiga and have it read back the microcode and tell you what 060 it is.

Well that is super interesting for sure and Thanks for the info

I have never really had anything to do with commodore or Amiga stuff. our Family's first pc was a 286 and it was all x86 from there.
Im not sure i even know anyone locally with an Amiga to drop it into

it came in a box with an intel i960, a AMD 386 DX40 and a Ti 486 SXLC-V25, all QFP package none of which are soldered to anything but have all their pins.
about a dozen socket 7 non MMX pentiums and a couple of cyrix M2 and K6 chips.

all just shipped loose in a box to ensure maximum pins bent 😵
