Need Help Flashing Amptron PM-9100LMR / PC Chips M571LMR v5.1

Hi, I have an Amptron PM-9100LMR aka PC Chips M571LMR v5.1 Socket 7 motherboard.

It currently has an AMI bios dated 03/09/2000S.

The full bios name is 62-0309-001437-00101111-071595-M571-10000000-H.

I want to update the bios so that it will accept a Pentium P55C MMX 233.

According to
http://cwcyrix.duckdns.org/techpage/html/m1.html, the most recent BIOS for the v5.1 board is dated 07/04/2001.

I downloaded the 07/04/2001 BIOS and tried flashing it using the AMI Bios Flash Utility, but got the error "BIOS file size and detected Flash EPROM size does not match".

I then tried UNIFLASH, but got the error message "Warning: Bootblack Mismatch!! Proceed Anyway (Y,N)?" I then tried the advanced feature and used the 'flash bios image including bootblock'. I then got the error message "Waring: About to Alter the Boot Block, Proceed (Y,N)?".

My questions:
1) Is the 07/04/2001 the correct bios image to flash?
2) should I ignore the UNIFLASH warnings and alter the boot block?

I don't want to brick this board.

Jan Steunebrink mentions that his patched BIOS for that board "This BIOS is for boards with a 1Mbit (128KB) flash chip."

Which implies that there were different sized BIOS chips on those?

Interesting. AMI flash and uniflash detected different flash chips. You can peel off the sticker on your BIOS and check the actual model number. The safer way is to buy another flash chip and write the new BIOS into it.
But to begin with, it's extremely unlikely that a BIOS released in 2000 wouldn't support P55C. This board made its debut some where between Oct and Dec 1997, and P55C came out in Jan 1997. It would be a market disaster if the board didn't come with P55C support at birth.

I bought a larger flash chip and flashed it with an eprom burner. The bios mine had in the socket was shorter than the socket, the replacement larget chip filled it fully.

Never count on logic when it comes to PC Chips. I think some of their engineering decisions might have been driven by the phases of the moon in combination with the weather on the plains of Africa.
