Do you own a Voodoo 5 5500? Post a dated picture of the card please.

Because we're kind of selective here about the people we let in.

Is this too much voodoo?

I looked at this post earlier and I was wondering what you were talking about, makes way more sense now we have context.

I believe every member here has at least a one Voodoo card. (Probably the common Voodoo 2 twins="SLI")
Voodoo 3dfx is "the" entry level card to PC-gaming world.

I had a banshee when I was young though...does that mean I can stay?

Voodoo3 3000 AGP here, but i barely use my v3 build, it is like my 486 build, i have just for collecting, and the fun building it, i use my S7 Pentium 133 with cache trickery to play DOS games and for Windows 98 i use my Pentium 4 build, but most of the time i run DOSBox on Windows 98 on my Pentium 4 build for those speed sensitive games.

Pentium 4 is like a cache trick for DOSBox 🤣

I didn't get my hands on a Voodoo card until last December when I managed to find a reasonably priced Voodoo2 (although it's an 8MB model, but that can be upgraded). I wouldn't say every member here has a Voodoo, simply because chances are there's a good number of members here who don't have a Voodoo of any kind ATM for a number of reasons, one common reason is how pricey they've gotten over the past year or so (I know I was one of those for a while).

Heh. I have 3 Voodoo 3000 AGPs, but only one of them works; the other two won't POST in my system. Since I only have one compatible system to test on, I cannot know if the cards are truly faulty or if it's the system that's finicky.

Nope. Not interested in acquiring one, either, and I've yet to actually see one in real life. 🤣

That's nothing. I know there's a few OC shamers that would go ballistic over others running "vintage collectable CPUs" above stock.

In the end it's their own stuff, but that play doh 'incident' is really the extreme end of shameless carelessness and it's just pointless.

Often it's also pointless to OC these old parts, but some parts have no issue being run at higher speeds as these were downbinned parts anyway.

But I still remember this one person on Vogons have gotten this kinda hard to find s370 board I think? (maybe a Black Pearl or something along those lines) and overclocked till it broke. That was really quite pointless if one were to ask me.

Edit: Ow, a shameless necro by me 😵
My apologies, but I reckon 3 months is still within bounds? 😊

Not fun to be told to "jump in front of a running bus" because i'm doing the common Am5x86 overclock. It's not even a rare CPU and it's not being done on a rare board either (M919)

Glad that I collected when I did, still wish that I had my first 5500 which had only cost $11 (yes only $11) shipped back in 2009.
