The ones with the wiring? The picture is unclear. Underneath, it looks like an AWE32 card or something similar to that.

Simm orientation is wrong for an awe32; maybe a turtle beach tropez?

Come to think of it, I do see ROM sockets on there. And it does look like a cached I/O controller card.

Probably just the lighting but when looking at the ISA connector I am not convinced this card is actually new.

It's not. It came from the Pentium Pro haul and these are lightly used, BUT all the AE3 NICs I have are damn near mint. The lighting in that photo is harsh.

Phone camera. It doesn't matter if they're unused or not... they will do wonderfully for my purpose.

The missing power inductor seems to be replaced with some kind of bridge? Is this possibly a factory modification, maybe it is supposed to be empty? Or is it just what's left of the inductor that was once there?

All other photos of the card I can find online have the power inductor there but they are ASSY Revision A or B models, mine is a Revision C..

Package size is 7mmx7mm, is this what I need to buy, then?

Also, I have this broken FX5200 I can scavenge for parts; after a quick look at it I noticed it has a similar 1R0 inductor, but it's not shielded, a simple coil I believe, would this also work in a pinch?

ASUS V7700 Ti VX + 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI
The ASUS was a steal (~ 20 bucks shipped). Can't say no to such an offering...

Mmm. GeForce2 Ti. As for the VooDoo3 2000, I'd recommend adding a fan to the heatsink since those things overheat really fast.

I got bit unlucky today. I thought I would get a super socket 7 motherboard cheap... just for few euros. Unfortunately when I finally got it today, These 2 bulging capacitors told me that there was no point even trying to test if it works.

Dang, that sucks. I have a Dell Dimension 4550 that has 4 bloated caps next to the CPU socket and it still works.

I should probably really get some kind of desoldering gun, Last time when I tried desoldering caps from a scrap motherboard with just soldering iron and braid, it didn't go too well. 😜

If that is your card i think it is the A250, not the A250 Ultra? in other words: the ti4400 (or 4800se) version. I have the same card and i believe the ultra (ti4600) comes with the gold colored i/o plate and fan shrouds? I might be wrong ...(EDIT checked pics on google, think i'm wrong now).
Mine is also a ''B'' and has the part in place. It also has the same bulging caps. Still workes fine when tested and will fix it in the future. I have no use for it now as it is just a part of the collection.

I bought some components for a AM3-build I will be working on later.
4x Samsung PC10600U DDR3-1333MHz 1GB RAM (€1,50 a piece; can you believe that?! I regret not having bought more! 😜)
1x ATI Radeon X300 SE 128MB DDR SD-RAM PCIe Graphics Card (€3,50; I should probably get a faster graphics card though for a AM3-system. 😜)
1x AMD Athlon II X2 255 3,1GHz 2MB 2GHz FSB Socket AM3 (€5,00)

The graphics card shows a weird distorted screen with vertical rainbow bars. I am able to see the images and read the text in the BIOS though. I should probably do some more research on this. Do you guys have any suggestions? 😊

Ehhh, desoldering gun is not required but can possibly make the job a bit easier.

And de-soldering braid works a lot better if you put flux on the braid first. It helps it suck up the melted solder a lot better.

But for the through-hole caps, I generally just melt one side and then tip the cap so it pulls the leg partway out and then repeat for the other side. Usually 2-3 time of this and the cap is out and it usually brings most of the solder along with it.

using flux helps a lot as well... it goes way faster and the components around the one you are replacing don't get near as hot because the heat transfers a lot better to the spot that you are working on. I generally use regular old flux paste. My main container of it was sold as plumbing solder paste, but it works way, way, way better for stuff like this then the lame liquid flux.

I have a container of electrical flux that I use for soldering and de-soldering purposes along with the braid, de-soldering iron, and soldering iron with the new solder.
