We've been discussing the mapping stuff in a round about way across a number of threads, so I'd like to consolidate it all in one thread.
I'd like to make a proposition that we all use the same techniques for creating our texture packs. It's already becoming tricky as JC has used one method and I've been using another and they aren't completely compatible.
If we standardise on this, we could create a master download pack of all the captured textures in a usable folder format that gets rid of the need to refer to weird named folders and is sensibly stuctured for easy texture cration.
I suggest that we:
1) Agree on a standard folder structure for the entire texture set that uses sensible names.
2) Only refer to the weird named Glidos folders in the master mapping file and nowhere else
3) Agree that *one* person consolidates all the work as it's done so that management is easier. I nominate myself for this.
4) Once complete, make the entire captured folder structure and it's contents available to anyone via my website.
Ideally, for this to be future-and-fool proof, it would be great to also include all the audio triggers and any other variations of folder names for different versions of the games.
Firstly, allow me to suggest the structure I'm using. It's slightly different from your sturcture JC as I wish to get rid of the weird named folders. I also don't see the need for using mapping files for *every* texture as you've done JC, but I'm willing to change that if you can convince me why it's sensible. (I only feel the need to map textures out to other folders when the texture is used a cross mutiple levels).
Please see me proposed structure at the end of tis thread. (I used this in another thread). Let's take this as a starting point, so comments please. Obviously, it's incomplete, but would eventually contain all the required folders for all the levels.
