I've been playing betrayal at Krondor in Dosbox, and everything worked fine to begin with, including saved games. Then one day it struck me that the games I was saving inside dosbox weren't actually being written to the saved game directory in my krondor directory. This confused me, as the saved games would persist from one dosbox session to the next, but if I opened the game without dosbox, the dosbox saved games wouldn't be there. Then recently, I was moving some files around, and all of a sudden my dosbox saved games dissapeared. This was really bad because I was about half way finished with the game, and now I cant' find my save files. Does anyone know how things like this work in dosbox? Maybe all newly created files are stored in another folder, or in a temporary file somewhere?

As a sidenote, recently after a power outage that happened when I was playing dosbox, there was a file in the krondor directory called temp.dat, that was 3.5 gbs after the power outage. This was crazy considering the entire game was only about 15 megs or so. Anybody know what this file is?
