Opened this HP DC7800 SFF at work one month ago. Desktops from healthcare always seems to be the worst to collect dust. Bad cleaning in the offices or maybe a lot of people visiting them?

That are real gems!
In particular I like the near-clogged CPU fan. Makes me imagine the customer telling the service, "the computer got very slow" (because of heat throttling of the CPU). I had this kind of clog the time I cleaned my PC about two years ago. The whole CPU cooling stuff had to disassembled to unclog and clean it.
And the floppy is great too! Definitely one of the dirtiest I have seen!

Man, I wish I still had the pictures from a TV studio I worked at. We had a matrix switcher that I opened up one day, and I couldn't even see any components. (probably 2cm thick) I hit it with the Metrovac and it sucked it all up in one piece like a rug getting sucked into a vacuum.. haha. It was extremely satisfying.

Right now I am trying to understand the different colors of the decomposition products. Red (under transducer) - iron? Yellow - tin or lead? Green - copper?

Is that rust made from cat pee? I wonder if that guy's pc worked after that 🤣 . Why did he have this problem I wonder...

When I saw the images and noticing the computer must have stood vertically, I came to the conclusion that the guy probably didn't want to neuter his young tomcat too early.
When my last cat was about a year old, some day I noticed warm water pouring over my head while sitting at my PC.

I am lucky. I have only seen a fully clotted pc like these, one time in my life. The owner had lot's of dogs, never vacumed and had the PC standing on the carpet under the table.

The dirtiest-ever computer component I've seen was the interior of a IBM PC/XT PSU. It was solid dust inside. (Unfortunately I didn't think to photograph it.)

There's nothing quite like a cat with failing kidneys to rust up untreated mild steel.

Why would viewer discretion be advised for dirty computers? It's not like toddlers would actually be afraid of dust 🤣 Just asking.

Anyway, I'm also lucky because I always keep my PCs clean from dust, lint and other debris, even though it sometimes is hard to do so, hehe.

Sorry, no photos, but I had a system where the venting must have been poorly designed. The system sucked air through my tape drive, and the dust ended up killing the drive.
