Hi,

I've been wanting to run Crystal Caves on DOSBox ever since I found about this kick-ass prog. but I have encountered the HUD shacking bug that occurs with it. Now don't tell me to go d/l a CVS because I've tried around 4 CVS variations (including the plain AEM compilation) without any luck. If I ever get this game to not shake, it gets back after about 2 seconds or so 🙁
Oh and the border fix for this game that comes with the CVS ver. from http://ykhwong.x-y.net/page.htm is buggy (atleast for me) the red line, is chopped whenever I start the game, and distorts as I advance...

Help me to make this game back working again..

And for the record I'm using an Intel Built-In Graphics Controller card that's on this laptop and I didn't have any trouble in any game (well unless the game was REALLY bugged from the begging)[/url]

There was a conflict between two features; 'Blended overscan borders' and 'Scalers performance boost'.
I managed to make both of them work, but it's not perfect and so buggy. vasyl will update the patch (overscan) when 'scalers optimization' patch becomes stable or goes into cvs repository.

ok, thanks 😀
is the 'scaler performance boost' patch the one that is supposed to fix the HUD shacking in this, because I've read somewhere that vasyl fixed it (something to do with code in a vga control file)

When the game shows part of border on screen, try to wait a few seconds displaying the overall border.

I dunno whether vasyl already fixed it or not cause I've never found the post or sentences.

Shaking HUD was completely independent issue. That should work. Overscan borders are pretty much completely broken with new scalers causing the entire border area to miss redraws on occasions. For now, I would recommend not using overscan borders at all (set "overscan=0" in dosbox.conf).

I think it's this patch:

Crystal Caves Hud Shaking

(scroll to the end of the thread, page 1)

there vasyl has a solution to that HUD shacking, have you got that patch in your CVS ? it was supposed to fix the shacking, I downloaded around 4 CVS builds including yours but none seem to fix that

oh and I set the overscan border to 0 in dosbox.conf and the border still remains there.. 😖 what could cause that?

I think you're not actually using those CVS versions. I've tried with at least two of the version you claim to have used and confirmed the bug was fixed with both of them. Have you simply replaced the DOSBox executable/libraries with the ones from the CVS builds? That's what you should do...

the strange thing is that I've installed DOSBox-0.63 and replaced the exes/libraries with the one from the CVS build archive, and it still persists 🙁

I'm thinking it that it's got something to do with my comp., or I didn't install something correctly 😐
