Hi Keropi 😀

That's why I asked one. They tossed quite a few in the bin last year.
I'm lucky that I have a modded 2600 because otherwise it would have been pretty useless, but free nonetheless haha.
I don't have a lot that I need to branch to a TB.

My retro collection: too much...

well tbh with the 2600 it will go to waste 🤣
but if you connect any other console or a home computer like the amiga you will see it is way better than consumer tv sets.
It is a great monitor to have, don't underestimate it!

And it looks like a post-1982 model.
Thus, no smelly PCB caps! Congrats!

Post about it next time. Mods, is there any harm in having a "super deals" thread where we can notify other vogons about major deals that would be of huge interest to people here?

Nice find. If you replace the electrolytic capacitors (the others are probably fine) and the cooler with a Zalman, then this can be a reliable and silent card.

Btw, it seems that some traders stepped in, one person has even bought 10 of them 😀

could you please point me at some thread where one can read some background on this apparently failed experiment?
I'd be very curious.

Because, I sometimes wish there were a subforum where collectors and retro users could trade/swap their stuff.

A la: I need the following things:
(list of items)
I have these items for trade:
(list of items)

So vogons could mutually help completing their builds without having to deal with crazy auction site prices or unreliable traders?
But before I'd think of proposing such, I'd really like to know more (see above).
Maybe this is one of the reasons too, why the chief vogons seem hesitant to the proposal of a vintage systems software development subforum?

And what about unreliable private sellers? Most trash that I have bought came actually from private sellers advertised on a local website, who made their stuff look like good deals.

and basically the thread was misused to push own sales

Yes, but on sites who allow buyer feedback one can see if buyers are satisfied.

And I probably would trust well-known Vogons more than ebay private traders who sometimes dump defective stuff or package stuff in "static plastics" or such things (it happens, but very rarely in my experience.)

I just do not buy if I have no good impression and feeling, even if the price is good.

@schlang

Thank you very much!

The explanation is very interesting.
Fully agree with the conclusions, can understand the admins.

Anyway back to topic...

Today bought an AHA-1542C for my ISA freeclocker,
Paid 15 Euros, 🤣.
Long ago at a big clearout I sold several of those for 9 euros iirc.
Prices have risen over the years...

I don't disagree totally with the reasoning, but I think a good compromise would be an eBay thread (lets be honest its mostly all on eBay) where no replies/comments are allowed, just original posts of great deals. Obviously it would be a target for spam, but hey, better there than in the rest of the forum.

And what is the greater evil....a bit of forum spam or scumbag traders stealing all the good deals?
