On my Windows 98 PC, after the machine finishes posting and as it loads into the Windows 98 splash screen, it makes a long beep noise before continuing to boot normally. Does anyone know what this is about? I believe it started happening after installing the Sound Blaster Live driver CD.

Have you tried booting to the Command Prompt instead? Spalsh screen wouldn't be in the way and you'd be able to see what's causing it to beep.

It's likely to be the Soundblaster DOS emulation drivers complaining they can't find free resources to use. Try pressing Escape when the Windows logo shows to see what's going on behind it.

I found out part of what's causing the error. It turns out that something (probably one of the serial ports) is causing an issue with the sb16 emulation driver and is preventing it from loading correctly.
