Hi guys, recently I acquired a 486 DX33 system from a mate's shed. The system is working and in relatively good condition with 8MB of SIMM memory and a 540MB hard drive. Now I want to restore this system into a good condition of usability and convenience, however I need to know more about the motherboard it's got. All it says on it is 'FX3000 v1.0' and has an external battery module (thank god). Now for the questions:
1. Does it need to have rechargable batteries installed into the module? The pins on the motherboard send 5v out the battery connector, and I'm not sure if it'll like alkalines installed.
2. Can I use the cheap SD-IDE boards with the controller card? It's a winbond w8375f board and detects the full capacity of the 540MB WD hard drive. I'd much rather use an SD card because of the age of the hard drive and makes it easier putting files on there.
3. Will it support an upgrade to a DX2 66? It's got a 33mhz clock crystal on there, but again I'm not sure if that means a DX2 would run at the full 66mhz or cap out at 50mhz.
4. Would anyone know about the turbo display? It's showing 8 and 20mhz instead of the 33 the CPU's clocked at.
