turns out the problem wasn't the mouse,but me not reading the faq doh! control f10 did the trick.

so i am now playing u-6. graphics are very hard to see. the truth is i don't remember if the graphics were that bad originally. lot of black dots in the back ground. i have tried messing with tne config through dfend no joy. u6 is my first go with dosbox. i wonder if people with more experience can help me see if better graphics are possible. or whether this is as good as it gets.

U6 has no problems at all. Perhaps your copy is corrupt.

thanks, ifinally got out of the castle and it looks much better. i'm thinking i should have lit a torch in the sewers. been a long, long time since i played an ultima.
