That rom version je439 is really old.
There are new versions available but I only found in german.
I need an English version.
Anyone know where I can find it ?

JE4333 is the latest, and supports K6-2+/3+.
Great , let me make sure the computer is stable before I flash the bios. I have a benchmark test cd I can use to test the computer.
Hope you get it working with the beta bios, although I wonder if the age of the boards might be a factor. From your pics, those boards date from mid-98 and seem to be just at the crossover between PCB 1.1A & the original version of 1.2A (you have a v1 1.2A PCB but the bios it shipped with - 113JE12 - is listed for PCB 1.1A). Also, the JE438 / JE439 bios versions were for v2 of the 1.2A PCBs, and they all carry very specific stickers to indicate this (see pic of my mid 2000 board below)
Okay, I backed up my original bios rom and then performed the updated of the bios to JE4333. I then ran some benchmarks to make sure the system was still stable and it is.
Working fine at 66x5.5 for 367mhz total.
Bios recognizes CPU as AMD K6-366.
But how do I set the jumpers up for 100x5.5 for 550mhz total ?
Also I added another stick of ram into bank-2 of the dimm slots but it does not show up.
I can only see 130mb of ram from a 128mb stick.
Using PC-100 ram DIMM’s
I could not get the SIMM’s to work. I tried FPM and EDO SIMM’s and neither would work.

Oh, I see. That’s what that white sticker next to the bios is for.
The problem I had is that the motherboard does not recognize K6-3+ CPU’s
What CPU speeds where you able to achieve on your motherboard ?
I've had this board from new (2000-2001) and yes it shipped with JE439, although I updated it almost immediately to JE4333 (for the larger HDD support rather than cpu support). Board is still fully stable and caps are all original 😲
The way you see it in the picture I posted is jumpered for an AMD-K6-2/550AGR (100 x 5.5) so I stuck one in along with 2 random sticks of ram that were lying about (Crucial 256MB PC133) and a TNT2 agp card and it booted right up with everything fully recognised.
When FIC released v2 of the 1.2A PCB they introduced a stickering system on the board to guarantee the widest official K6-2 & K6-3 cpu support, starting with JE438 (its a combination of the PCB revision, bios version and the sticker in the middle of the board which reads 1.2A EO037)
There is zero official support for K6-III+ cpus, though because some of the officially supported cpus were hard to get in some markets, they released beta bios support starting with JE4330.
Really strange bios. I did not have any luck with one board so I tried the other one and this one was worse.
I bios recognized the K6-3-450 CPU as an Intel 486sx @ 60 MHz. ?
What ?
So I flashed that bios too with the JE4333 rom and now it recognizes the K6-3 CPU fine.
But I could only squeeze out a clock speed of 366mhz on both motherboards.
I will take a look at you photo jumper settings and compare.

I can see already that you are using a higher core frequency. I was just using 2.2v.
Looks like you where using 2.3v.
Do you know why this photo shows a K6-2@366 MHz. ?
Because I was accidentally using a K6-2@350.
DOH !
I have so many AMD CPU’s lying around I accidentally used the 350 instead of the K6-3-450.
But that’s not why I could not clock to 550mhz.
I will try your jumper settings.
FPM SIMM is only going to work at 66Mhz. You will need a PC100 DIMM for 100Mhz FSB unless there is a setting to run the RAM at 66Mhz and the FSB at 100Mhz at the same time.
Yes !
It’s working
AMD k6-3+@550mhz.
100x5.5 = 550mhz.
CPU core frequency of 2.3v
Thanks everyone, You did it!
You fixed my Super Socket-7 motherboards.
Solution:
Set jumpers to higher CPU core frequency of 2.3v
Use compatible DIMM's ( PC-100 or PC-133 ) 128mb. max DIMM's.
Flash bios to newer version ( JE4333 )
Use SDRAM and CPU clock frequency of 100mhz.
Hi
can someone assist me with my fic VA504+
I am not sure if i should update to the je433b2 bios?
It will not detect the k6-3 + 450mhz
I have
k6-2 535mhz
k62 400mhz
k63+450mhz
thanks
No clue what bios this is 1.15je35
any idea?
ok found this
Socket 7
PCB VER. 1.2A
1. Windows NT5.0 b2 ACPI mode could not function.
2. Added new table for MII.
3. UDMA CD-ROM detected as PIO Mode 4-compatible.
4. Updated CPU ID tables for AMD-K6-III, Rise MP6-II, IDT WinChip-2A, WinChip-3.

It is usually best to make your own thread if you have a different problem.
I can not find any info on a FIC VA504+ but the BIOS string suggests you're using a VA-503+.
It seems there are multiple revisions of the board and it appears there are different BIOS files for rev 1.1x vs. 1.2a. At the bottom of one of your pictures I can read 1.2a so I guess that's your revision but please counter check.
Carefully choose your BIOS files because the BIOS EEPROM appears to be soldered onto the motherboard. If you flash the wrong one you will need to unsolder the EEPROM to fix your mistake.
You can find various BIOS files here: http://cwcyrix.duckdns.org/ftp-archives/ftp.f … ocket7/va-503+/
JE4333.ZIP contains the latest beta BIOS that is suppsed to add K6-2+/III+ support. I don't know which mothervoard revision this is supposed to be for but since it's the latest file I suppose it should be compatible with the latest PCB rev. No gurantees though.
I also found this article on modifications to ensure proper K6-III support and stability: http://standardnetworking.com/gigagon/fic/K6-3_mod.htm

Thanks for your reply and the wealth of information and links to the bios.
I do have the je433b2 bios where the OP did the flash and it worked. I will try this once I get everything back up and running with an image to do this in dos. The original OP in this thread had 1.2a revision as well.
Yes i am using the 503+ and this was a typo.
and i see i do have 1.2a i did not catch that thanks!
Happy to help.👍
Good luck!
