Carmageddon and GliDos

I recently download a copy of GliDos to see if it would make one of my favorite old games, Carmageddon Splat Pack, work on my modern system.

Foolishly, I only tested the first level before I paid $10 to remove the spinning logo. Now that I`ve actually played the game through a proper I have noticed a large number of texturing bugs.

The problem is at it's worst on the island map, hell map and the medival castle map although the texture bugs affect all the cars and all the maps to some extent. Many of the textures flash random psycadellic colours, it makes the game quite unplayable!

I tried a diffrent Glide wrapper "dgVoodoo" which fixes the problem (while creating some new problems I`m not going to go into right now) so it seems obvious to me that the texture bugs are caused by GliDos.

I have trawled though this message board and nobody seems to be talking about strange texture bugs, has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Chris

Really shouldn't be a problem with that card. Two things worth trying:

1) Try an older version of OpenGlide from the Red Baron page of the web site. It gives you an alternative version of Glide2x.dll, which you can put in C:\Program Files\Glidos, in place of the one that is currently there.

2) Try psVoodoo. Again, its an alternative Glide2x.dll

I tried both the Glide2x.dlls you suggested, they made a diffrence, now it looks even worse 🤣!

I found out what driver I`m using:

6.14.0010.8195 according to dxdiag

I`ve attached a picture of the game so you can see for yourself.

I would like to point out I get exactly the same problem on my work PC.

Just a quick aside: please compress your BMP into JPG format. BMPs are way too big and a waste of good bandwidth. Thanks.

If the moderator could take my old post down (I can't seem to edit a guest account post), I have uploaded a .jpg verion.

It would be interesting to see the different results from the different versions. Might give a clue as to what's going on.

Hey, try this. Its an alternative glide2x.ovl. Bung it in C:\Program Files\Glidos. Probably wont help, but worth a go.

If anybody tried this version of GLide2x.ovl, it would be handy to know, especially if it worked.
