😠 Help!

I'm running version .63 of DOSBox, and tried to use it to install and play QFGIV. However, it won't even install. When it asks if I want to make any changes to the configurations (sounds and what not) it goes to the next screen saying there has been a configuration error. And that's that. I've tried changing the sound devices, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. Any assistance?

Thanks!

Are the files/folder set to read only? It sounds like it is having trouble writing to the config file. However you say you can't even install?

Try running INSTALL.EXE in windows, set it all up for Soundblaster...then run it via dosbox. It should work.

If you have the cd version, have you mounted it using the cdrom options? (see Readme for specifics-probably have to start out with trying the "-t cdrom" option)
Otherwise the game tends to think the cd version is instead already installed and assumes you are configuring instead of installing and attempts to change the configuration on the read-only cd to an obvious failure.

The floppy version can be a pain to install in DOSBox, though the CD version is easy. With the CD, you will have to mount both a C: drive and your CD. With the floppy version, you might find it easier to install with NTVDM and play it in DOSBox.

He's got it. 🤣 I'm willing to bet that is EXACTLY what is happening.
