I have noticed that LS-486e rev F doesn't detect Teac CD-W540E at all.
Is it normal? 😕

None of my 486 (and older) boards know what a CD drive is, only my Pentium1 and newer boards do.

Oh, then IDE was pure trash compared to SCSI 🤣
What if I disable the onboard IDE controllers and use ISA I/O card?

That won't make a difference unless the card has ins own BIOS and that BIOS knows what ATAPI devices are. I don't know any such card. But as said before, this won't matter, you load your favorite CD driver in DOS and get access to the drive, and even if BIOS did know CD drives, DOS wouldn't still without a driver.
