I got this no-name 486 PCI board without cache on board. Bought 1 32K chip for tag and 4 64K chips for cache as this may be the maximum configuration for this board and installed. I set external cache enabled and 7 bit tag in BIOS. The 256K cache was correctly recognized but it would hang up after summary screen. Seems that I need to set cache jumper however I can't find any information on the board and there's no manual. Award BIOS ID 2A4IBSL9

but I can't find any doc.

Yes. Found this one on Taobao (Chinese) and in the description the seller did provide some jumper settings for multiplier and FSB, but no for cache.
FSB settings: JP15 close/JP16 open - 40MHz; JP15 close/JP16 close - 33MHz.
Seems the only two jumpers undocumented are JP12 and JP13... both are 3 pin and locate near cache.

If I'm not mistaken there are only 9 possible combinations for those 2 jumpers, that's not too much to try if you don't find any documentation.
Also if this fails make sure to test those cache chips on an other board, I don't know where you bought them from but there are a lot of cases of faulty or fake cache chips on ebay.

I don't have another 486 board, but I indeed bought 3 sets of 256K L2 (32K x1 + 64K x4). Maybe try them soon.
