A decade or three ago I bought a wee Amstrad 286 setup. It had a smaller foot print than my current Zenith Z286LP Plus. Worst purchase I ever made wrt computer systems. I like small compact units, not those HUGE behemoths everybody brags about. Looked fine from the outside but almost everything on the thing was proprietary, including the fdd interface, so I scrapped it. I did manage to salvage some items from it though. The Amstrad Ablib clone sound card and it's Amstrad branded Counter Point menu software.

When the screen saver kicks in the screen goes black and the clock is displayed moving around the screen.

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

PM me but don't tell the mods. Linking to downloads of ye olde commercial software is'nt allowed on vogons. Copy write reasons I guess. I think Counter Point was reasonably popular in Europe.

Interestingly Desk2 does also fail on my setup (A2286/8 1MB ET4000). It produces lots of graphical issuis,
while counterpoint (CP) works very nicely in VGA mode.
Seems to be, that both QM3/DESK2 use the same VGA-Bibs from Borland? that m gfx-card does not like?

Thx
Doc

Maybe your ET4000 has bad video memory in an area that is only used in higher graphics modes.

I don't think so. Quickview is OK, no glitches. It must be another thing.
Perhaps it's a mouse thing? Wiered pixel occur while moving the mouse.
In these two programs. The mousrdriver is from commodore (amouse).
I will not use any other.

Sorry, yes of course, that's what it is. You use it in your A2000 with the A2286. The janus mouse driver is known for messing up graphics in some cases while drawing the pointer.

Ok, so only "amouse-compatible" software is used 😀
