Hi,

I am in the same mood as you 2 years ago. 😊

Could anybody help me with the best dos box configuration?

WinXP, 2,4 GHz, 1 GB DDR-RAM, 533MHz Frontsidebus Mainboard.

Many thanks in advance!

Greetz,
Martin

The game runs perfectly fine in DOSBox. Have a look at the guides forum for a newbie guide to dosbox. Make sure that you have the DOS version of Oil Imperium, not the C64 or Amiga version.

Hi,

now I have found out the right configuration but whether I choose I high speed or not, the newsticker is running too fast. It's impossible to read it. It's the same building the pipeplines for selling the oil. The system is too fast. No chance.

Set the cycles very low. For me that is 300 to 500. Works perfectly fine.

Indeed!!! Very strange, but it works! 😉

That's not strange, that's how old games worked. They didn't use the
timer to do their speed measuring. So if you set the cycles low, it'll
be slower (that is at the correct speed for those old games).

Yeah, I know. But I tried it with 20,000 cycles and it runs very slow (much slower than now, don't ask me why). I set dynamic, not normal, as usual (Master of Magic, Xcom,...).

Well, many thanks anyway. 😊
