Hi everyone.

I'm having a bit of trouble with this, and I can't figure out why.

First, my system:
Power Mac Dual 2.0 Ghz G5
2.5 GB RAM
Radeon X800 with 256MB vRam
OS X 10.4.5
Dosbox .63

OK, I followed the guide here in the guide section. I was able to get as far as moutning my home folder and mounting the CD (Night Trap for PC disc 1). I mounted the CD as y:.

Using dir I can see the contents of the disc, including an exe called setup. But any and every program I try to run off the disc says "fatal error: no cd's", even though the CD is mounted as y:... 1 program I tried to run said "this program can only be run with windows," but I don't recall which one it was.

If anyone could help me, it'd be much appreciated. Even step by step holding my hand - I won't be offended... obviously I'm doiong something wrong somewhere, I just can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help!

D.

1st.....No one back in DOS days used a CD letter of "y" for their games. Most CD drive letters were normally D: or E:....and mabye F:.

Yes, you can set the drive letter to other letters but this is a very odd configuration and not recommended.

Second, DosBox can't run Windows programs. It only runs DOS programs. If your program requires Windows then you'll need to use Bochs or Microsoft Virtual PC.

Thanks for your reply - luckily I never had to use dos, so I wan't aware that the drive letters were all that important - I only chose y because that's what the mac instructions said to do (they are here: OSX DosBox Guide)
I didn't realize it would have a negative effect... but I tried f: and got the same results.

Night Trap does not work in the Windows versions I have for VPC - it was actually recommended that I use dosbox, and according to the game list at the main dosbox site, Night Trap is fully supported (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php?s … D=2895&letter=N).

That's why the errors I am getting are so weird.

I cannot get the disk to mount with the mount command - it always tells me the volume does not exist, but if I use the subst command, it works, but I get the errors. What is the subst command anyway?

I know I'm totally useless when it comes to dos, but this should be working, I just can't make it happen.

Thanks again for your help.
