Hello,
more than 20 years ago as kid i tried to develop programs / small games for Dos with QBasic, Turbo Pascal 6/7 and Turbo C.
Im not full time programmer, but im still writing some code as part of my job / hobbies. From time to time im thinking about writing something for Dos too.. But now im used to modern languages like C# (i like whole Visual Studio Express package - im still using VS2012) or if have to Java both are using own virtual machines.
I hate low level stuff as manual DOS memory addressing / allocations / extenders and pointers etc.. i never fully understood it. What is most user friendly most modern Dos target developing package today?
I dont want to develop within DOS - its obsolute - no multiple monitors / windows / internet etc.. i need to google syntax, examples etc. so im ok with Windows as OS used for developement and testing my code within Vmware / Virtualbox / QEMU virtual machine, or within PCem or Dosbox.
Im know that i would need something fast i need to write it in C++ or ASM, but i dont plan to develop something performance heavy.. so maybe there is some easier way. I googled but found some Python port for Dos, but setup looked complicated, same with DJGPP and it look like (C++ stuff).
I would like to download some ready to develop package and only set target - DOS and spend minimum time in preparation. Question is if something like that exist for Dos development or not?
Im old goal oriented goatman, i care about facts and freedom, not about egos+prejudices. Hoarding=sickness. If you want respect, gain it by your behavior. I hate stupid SW limits, SW=virtual world, everything should be possible if you have enough raw HW.
