Don't doubt it, just look at the Game of Thrones.

I like it, could do better in some chars but could also do worse
if you view it as a simpe tv show to spend some time it's ok IMHO , if you want to view it as a lore edutainment 🤣 series you gonna be disappointed 🤣
I thought it was pretty good, much better than expected, when they released the first pictures of the actors and whatnot I was very skeptical but I liked all of the main actors/characters in the show,
I'm not bothered by them not following to perfection the books or anything, I'm mostly into Witcher from the games anyway.
It's funny, I'm going to watch but that preview rubs me the wrong way. There is way too much space in all the shots, it feels like the Witcher 1, low poly empty world, it's strange. I hope it turns out good though.

6 seconds in and I stopped watching it. Looks like another load of typical bad Hollywood crap.

My wife and I struggled through the first episode last night and I doubt we’ll be going back for more. I have no issue with dialog heavy TV but good lord, that was some bland storytelling.
Life? Don't talk to me about life.

So.... Typical off the mill Hollywood style, plastered in tons of hollow cliche?

I am two episodes in and right now and I want to like the show but I don't know if I will stick with it.
The acting, directing, sets and costumes all seem fine. At times they are even really good. The thing that keeps letting me down is the writing. There is a lot of wtf moments where I have no idea what is motivating the characters. When Geralt and Dandelion are captured by the elves and they suddenly launch into lengthy philisophical exposition... why? They are strangers and Geralt is bound in rope. That isn't how humans do things.
When Geralt sucker punches Dandelion and it is like it doesn't matter... no. In real life, Dandelion leaves. That isn't a character or relationship building moment, Geralt clearly wants Dandelion to F right off.
Or when those two village folk go from necking to randomly attacking Yennifer for no reason... why? Why would two people flip from lovers banter to sadistic bullying on a dime like that? It makes no sense.
And many other examples that just take me out of the show.
Also, pacing. The first episode felt like the season finale of a show in it's second or third season. There are too many characters introduced too quickly with no build up. So far Yennifer is the only character that has been treated well. They are still building with Ciri and Geralt but it hasn't payed off yet.
I'll watch another episode or two to see if it improves... the plot is still more or less the same, so it is good material, it is just the script writing and perhaps the directing in the first two episodes is very sub par. The actors are doing well with what they have been given for the most part, but they need better writing in order to sell their characters.
watching just the first 2 episodes will make it weird, it gets better after that and makes more sense once you've watched all 8.
yeah there is some back and forth in time
finished it and I like it. just don't expect the masterpiece of the decade 😉
