Do they break compatibility? Are you better off chasing after retail discs? So far I've only tried Urban Chaos (which worked) and Jade Empire (which did not).

Jade Empire is a bitch.

I have had a lot of success using GoG versions. I used a retail disc of farcry and ran into graphical issues. The GoG version worked perfectly. I would say it depends, but most of the time it should be fine.

That's weird...my retail 5-disc version of Far Cry runs flawlessly in Windows XP S3 with X79 board/Titan Black with latest XP drivers and i7 4820K.

I last tried Jade Empire from Origin on XP a few years ago and it worked fine

Damn, the Origin version works natively but GOG does not? Bummer.
