I just want to express my gratitude to the developers for the improvements we see in Dosbox 0.65. It can now do everything I need it to do, and I would say that with the latest version Dosbox has come of age (though it is still a little inefficient at transferring between text and graphics modes).

Whilst previous versions were good enough for most action games, Version 0.65 is the first version of Dosbox which is really satisfactory for those of us wishing to use Fractint for DOS version 20.0 and similar tools. So sincere thanks for that. 😀

Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

I see you made your avatar a bit like fractal as well.
you should benefit a lot from the dynamic cpu core. Did you allready try it ?

Yep, the avatar is fractal-based; I use the same one on other boards. 😀

At this stage I haven't done much with 0.65 other than check it against the list of bugs I'd encountered with 0.63. I hadn't noticed the dynamic CPU core - now that you mention it I can see this option mentioned in the dosbox.conf file but the word "dynamic" doesn't occur anywhere in the README.txt file. Where can I find more documentation on this feature?

(BTW, the thought occurs that it would be useful if the README.txt file contained some sort of "what's new" section. Or perhaps used *NEW* tags to mark features added since the last version.)

config -set "cpu core=dynamic"

Zerrakhi,
Yeah you are right. but programming is more fun then writing documentation. although it is up to date. (except for new tags)

the dynamic core was present in 0.63 as well though. although it got much better.

As a computer science graduate myself, I rather enjoy documentation, but I know I'm in a minority. 😀 Check out the Shakespearian computer game poem that I wrote for school in 1993.

Thanks again. I'm unwatching the thread now.
