Anyone else used this little program? Has a cat run around your screen, chasing your cursor.

I used a few times, it was one of the first "toy" programs I found. There is also a linux package (oneko) that does the same thing. Other "toy" programs I had was "Bart.exe" (Bart Simpson appeared behind the window borders) and another one (also had a linxu version) that hid cockroaches behind the windows... so every time you minimized a window you saw some cockroaches running to hide behind another.

BTW, in a cat-software-related thought, I miss the cat assistant in Office 2000. I mean the drawn cat, not the paper cat (ooooh... I get the word play) found in Office 97. I configured it to not give suggestions and left it "playing" where it didn't annoy me on screen, so it was sleeping most time and only moving when saving, printing and the like. I feel it relaxing.

Maybe it was because I had an orange tabbed cat that spent most of my ZX Spectrum years sleeping above my TV (CRT screens... most cats loved them), so I feel "alone" without it.

I loved Neko, it was my desktop "pal" before that funny Sheep.. 😁
The one I had got was the one that was black/silver and ran on the background (desktop).

Edit: Maybe it was TopCat! ?

That sounds hilarious. Do you remember the name of it?

Is this too much voodoo?

I tried it once - it was on a PC game magazine CD along with other cutting-edge internet stuff 😀

Neko was cute back then, and it is even cute-r now given the nostalgia factor, but I still don't feel like keeping it 😀

Just noticed, there's also a Win64 version now (based on Neko98 ?). 😀

Oh yes, back in the era I had both Neko and Topcat - from the diskette included with "Windows magic tricks" book by Judd Robbins.
Aside from these, the diskette was full of other toys, showing that Windows wasn't limited to boring office applications...

A few days ago, I saw this article on Kotaku. It seems that some people are still devoted to make "toy" desktop programs...
