I got a Xitel storm platinum and it has toslink .
I was wondering if it is possible to desolder the toslink connector and solder on a coax instead?

Im not to keen on getting a signal converter box.

Any ideas?

The toslink transmitter is generally driven with a TTL signal. Some sound cards shipped TTL voltage levels over the coax connector, but a proper output will include voltage conversion and an impedance matching network.

If you simply need coaxial output instead of optical you can alternatively use a cheap converter. They work really well.

I hope this helps even though it does not really answer the original question.
